Larry A. Bast, who was appointed to fill a vacancy on the De Soto Rural Fire Protection District’s Board of Directors created by the resignation of Dustin Lowry, is running to fill the final two years of Lowry’s six-year term. Bast lives in the De Soto area.
In the April 2 election, he is facing a challenge from Nathan M. Myers, also of De Soto.
Neither candidate returned a Leader candidate questionnaire.
Mark Landau of Dittmer is running unopposed for the district’s full term.
Board members are paid $100 per meeting. The board usually meets once a month.
The district covers about 260 square miles in south and southwest Jefferson County.
