Curbside flood debris pickup

Here's an illustration to show how flood-damaged debris should be sorted for curbside pickup.

Jefferson County residents affected by the flooding in late December are being urged to take any remaining flood-damaged materials to the curbside before Monday, Feb. 15, so it can be removed.

The curbside pickup is being offered through the state and federal Operation Recovery program, which has been picking up and removing flood-damaged material throughout Jefferson, St. Louis, Franklin and St. Charles counties since Jan. 9.

The program is ending on Feb. 15, though, so local residents who live in the areas served by the program are urged to take any flood debris they still have to the curb soon.

Residents who live in Arnold, Byrnes Mill, Eureka, Fenton, Herculaneum, Kimmswick, Pacific and unincorporated parts of Jefferson County may participate in the program.

Since Jan. 9, Operation Recovery crews have picked up and removed 2,586 tons of construction and demolition debris, 1,168 tons of sandbags and more than 24,900 items categorized as either household goods, hazardous waste, appliances or electronics, the program reported.

Residents who leave flood damaged debris at the curb must separate it properly. For more information about how to sort items, go to www.mo.gov/flood-recovery.

Those who live in the areas served by the program and who need help taking their debris to the curb may call the United Way at 211 or 1-800-427-4626.
