Arnold Police are seeking assault charges against a 27-year-old Crystal City man and a 33-year-old Fenton man who reportedly were involved in a road-rage incident on southbound I-55 under the Church Road overpass. The two men confronted each other after the Crystal City man was involved in an accident with the other man’s wife, police reported.

At about 7:30 a.m. March 29, the Crystal City man was driving a 2019 Dodge Ram south on I-55 and his pickup struck a 2019 Jeep Compass driven by the Fenton man's wife, a 33-year-old Fenton woman. The man and woman pulled onto the shoulder under the Church Road overpass, and Arnold Police took a report about the accident, Maj. Clinton Wooldridge said.

At about 8 a.m., after officers left the scene, the Fenton man arrived at the scene in a 2006 Ford F-350, and he and the Crystal City man argued on the side of the interstate, the report said.

The Crystal City man said the Fenton man reached into the F-350 and pulled out a wooden object to threaten him. The Crystal City man reportedly retrieved a gun from the Ram and cocked the weapon, and then the other man drove away after he retrieved the gun, according to the report.

The Fenton man was contacted and came to the Police Station. He told officers he did not threaten the other man with a wooden object, adding that he was walking away from the argument when the Crystal City man brandished the gun, the report said.

Wooldridge said Arnold Police are seeking fourth-degree assault charges against both men through the Arnold Municipal Court.
