Crystal City annexed land owned by Good Earth Tools, which is surrounded by the city to the north, west and south.

Crystal City just got a little bigger.

The Crystal City Council voted 7-0 on March 27 to annex a 2.66-acre parcel of land owned by TXPops LLC, which operates under the name Good Earth Tools.

The land is part of a larger parcel in the area the company owns, and the rest already was under Crystal City’s jurisdiction. Annexing the land into the city will bring the entirety of their land under one regulatory body and allow the business to only need to follow city regulations, rather than both city and county, officials said.

Mayor Mike Osher said it was a voluntary annexation, which means the company asked to be annexed into the city.

“They are an excellent employer for the city and county,” Osher added.

The recently annexed parcel borders other land in the Crystal City limits on the north, west and south sides, and it touches an access road to the James Hardie industrial project under development.

Good Earth Tools, 150 Industrial Drive, in Crystal City specializes in designing, engineering, and manufacturing solid tungsten carbide-treated parts for railroad, mining, construction, transportation and recycling industries, as well as other applications.

The parcel needs to be rezoned to M-1 light industrial district to match the rest of the company’s property and to allow for manufacturing there.
