Repairs will be made to the roofs on the Jefferson College Library and the college’s Viking Woods Student Housing complex, both on the Hillsboro campus
The Jefferson College Board of Trustees voted June 10 to award $243,104.66 in contracts for the roofing work.
Both contracts were approved with 4-0 votes.
One of the projects calls for leaks to be repaired on the Jefferson College Library, and that $84,226 project was awarded to Meinershagen Roofing in Farmington. The company submitted the lowest of six bids for the project.
The Vikings Woods project calls for roofs on three buildings to be replaced. M.D. Sebastian Construction in De Soto, which submitted the lowest of two bids for that work, received a $158,878.66 contract for that project/
The Viking Woods project is expected to start this summer and be finished before the start of school on Aug. 23 or shortly thereafter, pending the availability of supplies, said Daryl Gehbauer, vice president of finance and administration.
He said the library repair work likely will not begin until September or October “due to supply chain issues.”
“Availability of construction materials is a universal problem all builders are experiencing at this time,” Gehbauer said.
