The Cedar Hill Community Day festival will return this year after a three-year hiatus.

The event will be held from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, on the Northwest High School upper parking lot, 6005 Cedar Hill Road, in Cedar Hill, which is a new location for the event.

It previously was held at Big River VFW Post 5331 in Cedar Hill, said Jaime Jones, president of the Cedar Hill Fire Protection Auxiliary, which organizes the event.

“It’s just a big community event to get everybody together and do something fun,” said Jones, 45, of Dittmer. “We like to see all the families and just everybody having a good time and enjoying themselves.”

Jones said this year’s event will feature carnival rides for the first time, which she hopes will be a big draw for the event.

Admission to the festival is free, but there will be a charge for the carnival rides.

Jones said Monday that the cost for the carnival ride tickets had not yet been determined, but they will be sold both at the event and in advance. Advance tickets may be purchased at the Cedar Hill Fire Station 1, 6766 Cedar Hill Road, in Cedar Hill, and two Enterprise Bank and Trust locations, 8475 Local Hillsboro Road in Cedar Hill and 4675 Gravois Road in House Springs.

The festival had been held annually until 2019, when it was put on hold because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jones said vendors may rent a booth for $25, and proceeds from those fees will be donated to the Peace Pantry, 8100 S. Industrial Drive, in Cedar Hill. It will cost $50 to have a food truck at the event, and profits from those fees and from the carnival ticket sales will be donated to BackStoppers, a nonprofit organization that helps families of police officers, firefighters and other first responders who are killed or seriously injured in the line of duty.

“It’s kind of turning into a fundraiser for other charities,” Jones said.

Jones said both vendor and food truck spots are still available. To sign up, email Jones at firefighterwifemom1998@gmail.com or fill out an application online at cedarhillfire.com.
