Chief Frank Selvaggio wants to meet the Byrnes Mill community.
On Friday (Jan. 25), he will host Coffee with a Cop from 9-10 a.m. at the McDonald’s, 4699 Hwy. W, in Byrnes Mill.
“It’s something I am hoping to start,” Selvaggio said.
He hosted Coffee with a Cop at Byrnes Mill Farms at the beginning of the month and said he received a good response.
Selvaggio wants to start hosting the events on a regular basis.
“This is something that I want to be an ongoing thing,” he said. “I have an open door policy with the community and I think that there may be some people out there who feel uncomfortable with coming to a police department and it might create a bit more comfortable atmosphere for them to come talk with me.”
Selvaggio said the event has no agenda and there will be no speeches, just an opportunity to ask questions and voice any concerns.
He hopes to use the events to get to know the community better.
“I want to get to know the community and I want the community to get to know me,” he said. “I think this is just one more way for them to see who I am.”
