5 p.m. May 1 UPDATE: Byrnes Mill residents again are able to contact city offices after a lightning strike caused phone and internet outages for several days this week.

Police Chief Frank T. Selvaggio said today, May 1, that the computers and main city phones were working.

“A few of the internal phones are still out,” he added.

Selvaggio said a lightning strike the night of April 26 near City Hall, 141 Osage Executive Circle caused an electrical shutdown, causing 911 and non-emergency calls to be transferred to Jefferson County 911 Dispatch Center.

He said the city is a Spectrum customer.

Police Chief Frank T. Selvaggio said a lightning strike on Sunday night, April 26, near City Hall, 141 Osage Executive Circle, caused an electrical shutdown.

Selvaggio said the city is a Spectrum customer.

“We are still without computers three days later,” he said.

Selvaggio said the phone system is down, but 911 and non-emergency police lines will go through Jefferson County 911 Dispatch Center.

Selvaggio said he hopes all systems will be back online soon but could not give an exact date.
