A man’s body was found Sunday evening (May 16) in a pond on private property in the 4700 block of Hwy. B in Hillsboro.
As of Tuesday, the body had not been identified, but Hillsboro Police believe it was a white man.
Police Capt. Darrick Curtis said there were no apparent signs of foul play, but nothing had been ruled out, and the investigation is ongoing.
Hillsboro Police got a call at 6:12 p.m. Sunday after some people went to the pond to fish and spotted the body, Curtis said.
He said it looked like the body had been in the water for at least a month.
The Hillsboro Fire Protection District was called to the scene and its water rescue team removed the body from the pond. Then the body was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office.
Curtis said the Medical Examiner will complete a report as part of the investigation. Also, Hillsboro Police are looking into missing person cases.
