Big Nasty Motor Sports, a vehicle-repair shop in the Hillsboro area, is slated to move this spring, under new ownership, to a property at 11866 Hwy. CC in the Festus area where K.A. Pazdera Hauling & Excavating currently operates.
Pazdera, meanwhile, will soon move to the Goodwin Brothers Construction property, 1766 Hwy. 61 South, south of the Twin City area, a spokeswoman for the company said.
A Pazdera official said in August 2016 that the company had purchased the Goodwin property.
Brad Hahn of Big Nasty said he hopes to move the shop to the Hwy. CC property by the end of April. As of Tuesday (March 14), he had not closed the deal to buy the property, but believed it would be accomplished in the next month and a half.
“It would be great to be open by May 1,” Hahn said. “We hope to have full services available in July. We will have an auto body shop, window tinting, a detail bay and do restoration on old, classic vehicles.”
Hahn and his wife, Jamie, both of High Ridge, are in the process of buying Big Nasty from Dylan Sharp, who is operating the business at 9934 Sandy Road in the Hillsboro area.
“My wife and I will buy out Dylan Sharp, who will become the general manager,” Hahn said.
The Hahns will work at the shop along with Sharp and three other employees, Hahn said.
“We’re eventually going to be a one-stop shop where you can get everything done,” he said.
The Pazdera property will allow for much greater work space as the Hahns plan to add a 10,200-square-foot metal building to the existing 3,700-square-foot work building at the site.
“We’ll have close to 14,000 square feet (for vehicle work space) and about 1,500 square feet for office space,” he said. “This will be better visibility and allows for the expansion.”
The Pazdera owners “anticipate our move in the next six weeks,” a company spokesman said.
Charles Goodwin of Goodwin Brothers said Monday (March 13) that his company is constructing a new 12,000-square-foot building at 4855 Baumgartner Road in south St. Louis County and is planning to share space with Pazdera for a while at the Hwy. CC location until Goodwin’s new facility is finished.
“We’re going to continue to occupy our existing office until the end of 2017,” he said. “(Pazdera) is going to be using our yard. We’ll keep working out of our office.”
Goodwin Brothers is being relocated to gain more office space (their current building is 5,000 square feet), Goodwin said.
He said the move also will benefit many “current management” employees who live in St. Louis County.
Nevertheless, Goodwin Brothers will continue to pursue projects in Jefferson County, he said.
“We are committed to Jefferson County,” he said. “This is our 70th year here.”
