The news was too good for a woman’s son to believe.
The woman won $50,000 in a Powerball drawing on July 24. She purchased the winning Powerball ticket at the Circle K gas station, 2046 Key West Drive, in Arnold.
She said she and had to convince her son that she really had won the prize, according to a written statement from the Missouri Lottery.
“It was funny,” the winner told Missouri Lottery officials. “I told him, ‘You weren’t as excited as I thought you would be,’ and he goes, ‘I really thought you were pranking me.’”
The woman claimed her prize July 31 at the Missouri Lottery headquarters in Jefferson City.
Her winning ticket matched four of the five white-ball numbers drawn, plus the Powerball. The winning numbers were 3, 4, 12, 28 and 49, with a Powerball number of 25.
The Missouri Lottery does not report winners’ names or hometowns.
