The Arnold Police Officers Association has partnered with Leader Publications to hold a trivia night next month to raise money for two worthy causes – the Shop with a Hero program and BackStoppers.

The first Arnold Back the Blue Trivia Night will be held Saturday, March 26, at the Arnold-Meramec Elks, 1515 Miller Road, in Imperial. Doors will open at 6 p.m., and the trivia will start at 7 p.m.

Entry in the tournament costs $200 per table, which may seat up to 10 players. Each of those players will receive bracelets for soda, water, tea, draft beer, popcorn and pretzels.

Sponsorship tables will be for $600, and the players at those tables will receive premium liquor bracelets. Each of the sponsors also will receive advertising at their table and at the door, along with a second table to advertise his or her business or organization.

Players also may purchase upgraded bracelets at the event, paying $10 for bracelets to receive wine and rail drinks or $15 for premium liquor bracelets.

In addition, trivia round sponsorships are available and cost $100.

Proceeds from the event will be divided between the Arnold Police Officers Association’s Shop with a Hero program, an event held in December that offers area children in need the opportunity to go shopping with a local first responder for Christmas gifts, and the BackStoppers, a nonprofit group that helps families of police officers, firefighters and other emergency personnel who are killed or seriously hurt in the line of duty.

“There are a lot of people who want to help the police and support the cause of helping first responders,” said Arnold Police officer Kevin Wilson, vice president of the Arnold Police Officers Association. “We are thankful there are people out there who want to come out and have a good time with us and support us.”

Wilson said he is looking forward to the upcoming event.

“It will be really nice to give a big donation to BackStoppers, especially with all they help out with. We are all about giving back to our community, especially the children. The more money that is raised means we can reach out to more children and, hopefully, make more of an impact throughout the community.”

As of Jan. 28, at least 14 of the 40 tables had been sold, and seven of those were sponsorship tables, Wilson.

Tables may be reserved through the Leader website, myleaderpaper.com. For more information about reserving a table, call the Leader at 636-931-7560.

“We are very excited to partner with the Arnold Police Officers Association for this first-time event,” Leader assistant publisher Peggy Scott said. “This will be a fun, entertaining night for everyone, and the money raised will be used for two important causes.”

The trivia night also will include a 50/50 raffle, and the association is reaching out to community members and businesses to donate items for prize baskets that will be raffled off during the event.
