A Wildwood woman was killed Tuesday morning (April 6) in a two-vehicle accident on I-64 at Big Bend Road in St. Louis County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 7:54 a.m., Karen L. Guccione, 49, of Wildwood was driving an eastbound 2004 Chevrolet Malibu, which ran off the right side of the road and struck a concrete barrier before returning to the road and striking the right side of an eastbound big rig. That collision left the Malibu pinned against the big rig, which ran off the right side of the road and struck the concrete barrier, and the big rig caught fire, the report said.

Curtis Breckenridge, 41, of Pueblo, Colo., was driving the big rig, a 2021 Freightliner Cascadia. No injuries were reported for him.

Guccione was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:15 a.m. by Maplewood Fire personnel, the report said.

Breckenridge was wearing a seat belt, and it’s unknown if Guccione was wearing one, the patrol reported.

The Malibu was totaled and the Freightliner was extensively damaged, the report said.
