A 19-year-old Hillsboro woman died Tuesday evening (Feb. 22), the day after the car she was driving on Hwy. 21 south of Hwy. M in the Otto area was struck head-on by an SUV a 16-year-old Festus girl was driving, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
Hana C. Maue, 19, was pronounced dead at 5:59 p.m. Tuesday, the patrol reported today (Feb. 23).
Two 16-year-olds in the SUV that hit the car Maue was driving also were injured in the accident, the report said.
At 9:26 p.m. Monday (Feb. 21), the 16-year-old Festus girl was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox the wrong way on Hwy. 21, traveling north in the southbound lanes, and the front of the Equinox struck the front of a southbound 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser driven by Maue, according to the report.
The 16-year-old Festus girl was seriously injured, and a 16-year-old De Soto boy who was a passenger in the Equinox was moderately injured. All three teens were transported by Rock Township Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, according to the report.
No information was available about the conditions of the two 16-year-olds.
All three involved in the crash were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.
The two vehicles were totaled, the report said.
The highway patrol did not release the names of the 16-year-olds because they are juveniles.
