An Imperial woman and a Farmington woman were hurt this morning (Jan. 20) in a four-vehicle accident on I-55 north of Meramec Bottom Road in south St. Louis County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.
At 7:35 a.m., Amber Wyrick, 29, of Imperial was driving a 1996 GMC Sonoma north in Lane 1 of I-55 and struck a wheel that was in the roadway, which caused one of the tires on the pickup to blow out, and then the pickup ran off the left side of the road and struck a concrete median barrier before spinning clockwise into Lane 2, where the left side of the pickup struck the left side of a northbound 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix, the report said.
Alissa R. Hahn, 22, of Farmington was driving the Grand Prix.
After the collision involving the pickup and the car, both those vehicles slid to the right, and the front of a northbound 2006 Chevrolet Uplander in Lane 5 struck the right rear of the pickup. Then, a northbound 2014 Ford Escape in Lane 1 hit the wheel in the road, according to the report.
Both Wyrick and Hahn sustained moderate injuries and were taken by ambulance to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in south St. Louis County, where they were treated and released this afternoon, a hospital spokesman said.
Dorothy M. Pound, 59, of Imperial was driving the Uplander, and Wafaa K. Al Falahi, 45, of Arnold was driving the Escape. No injuries were reported for them.
Hahn was not wearing a seat belt, but all the other drivers were wearing them, the patrol reported.
The pickup and Grand Prix were totaled, and the other two vehicles sustained minor damage, the report said.
