Two women, one from Hillsboro and another from St. Louis, were injured Tuesday, Aug. 22, in a two-car crash at Old Hwy. 21 and Hwy. 21 south of Otto, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 4:27 p.m., Danielle M. Moore, 22, of St. Louis was driving a 2011 Hyundai Sonata south on Hwy. 21 and while trying to turn left onto northbound Old Hwy. 21, she failed to notice a 2017 Honda HR-V driven by Terri L. Phelps, 64, of Hillsboro, who was headed south on Old Hwy. 21, and Moore reportedly pulled into the intersection at the same time Phelps was driving through it. Phelps tried to avoid a collision by steering to the right, but the front left side of the HR-V struck the left side of the Sonata, the report said.
Moore was moderately injured, and Phelps sustained minor injuries. Both were taken by Rock Township Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County where they were treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.
According to the report, both drivers were wearing seat belts.
The HR-V was extensively damaged, and the Sonata was moderately damaged.
