Tessa F. Baumann, 16, of Fenton and Brooklyn K. Grindstaff, 15, of Imperial were injured when the SUV they were riding in overturned Monday night (Aug. 13) on Old Hwy. M in Barnhart, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
Baumann and Grindstaff were passengers in a 2007 Saturn VUE, which was driven by Cheyenne L. Garcia, 16, of St. Charles. The SUV was traveling east on Old Hwy. M at 11:43 p.m. when Garcia attempt to avoid an object that crossed the road west of Runge Forest Drive, overcorrected and the Saturn went off the right side of the road before overturning, the report said.
Baumann sustained moderate injuries, and Grindstaff sustained minor injuries. They were transported by Rock Township Ambulance to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in south St. Louis County, according to the report.
Baumann and Grindstaff both were treated and released, a hospital spokesman said today (Aug. 14).
No injuries were reported for Garcia. All three teenagers were wearing seatbelts, the report said.
The Saturn was extensively damaged, according to the report.
