A Chesterfield man and a St. Louis man were injured Friday afternoon (July 3) in an accident involving two motorcycles on Hwy. 141 at Springdale Lane in unincorporated Fenton, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 2:42 p.m., Robert K. McLaughlin, 51, of Chesterfield was riding a 2016 Harley-Davidson FXSB south on the highway and was stopped at a steady red light, and a 34-year-old St. Louis man who was riding a 2014 Harley-Davidson FXDWG south on the highway allegedly ran the red light and struck the right side of the 2016 Harley, the report said.
Both men were moderately injured, and taken by Rock Township Ambulance to area hospitals. McLaughlin was taken to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, and the other man was taken to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, according to the report.
McLaughlin was wearing a helmet, and the other man was not wearing one, or at least not a Department of Transportation-approved one, the patrol reported.
The two bikes were moderately damaged, the report said.
