A Cedar Hill man was in serious condition following a crash that injured five people, including two 10-year-olds, on Sunday, March 24, in Franklin County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 2:32 p.m., Landon L. Mikel, 20, of Dittmer was driving a 2017 Chrysler 200 eastbound on Project Road west of Harry Maupin Road. Allegedly, Mikel was speeding and lost control of the vehicle which struck a mailbox and a tree before overturning, the report said.
Mikel and a passenger, Merton C. Henning III of Cedar Hill, were seriously injured and a 10-year-old House Springs boy was moderately injured, the report said. Two other passengers, Jacob M. Fritz, 22, of Lonedell and a 10-year-old boy from Cedar Hill had minor injuries.
According to the report, Mikel and the House Springs juvenile were taken by Big River Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County. Henning and the Cedar Hill juvenile were taken by St. Clair Ambulance and Fritz taken by private conveyance to the same hospital.
Mikel and Fritz were treated and released, and Henning was in serious condition as of Monday afternoon, March 25, a hospital spokesman said.
The vehicle was totaled and both children were wearing seat belts, but Mikel, Fritz and Henning were not, the report said.
The Patrol does not release names of minors.
