A De Soto man and a 17-year-old Bonne Terre boy were injured in a two-vehicle crash west of Valles Mines on May 11, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 9:32 p.m., Tarik Menkovic, 39, of De Soto was driving an eastbound 2006 Jeep Wrangler on Upper Blackwell Road and reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign, striking the right side of a 2004 Honda Civic driven south on Hwy. E by the 17-year-old driver, the report said.
The Bonne Terre teen and Brian R. Johnson, 51, of De Soto, a passenger in the Jeep, were both moderately injured.
Johnson was taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County and according to a hospital spokesman, Johnson was treated at the hospital and transferred to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur where he was treated and released.
The juvenile was taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson.
Both drivers and Johnson were not wearing seat belts, the Honda was totaled, and the Jeep was extensively damaged.
