traffic accident 2 patrol patch

Two Festus women were hurt this morning (July 12) in a three-vehicle accident on Hwy. A west of Pioneer Road in the Hillsboro area, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.

At 7:20 a.m., Kimberly K. Givens, 36, of Hillsboro was headed east in a 2008 Nissan Quest and crossed the center line into the westbound lane, where the minivan struck the rear left side of a westbound 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix, despite the driver of that car swerving in an attempt to avoid the collision, the report said.

The driver of a third vehicle – a westbound 2008 Toyota Prius – also tried to avoid a collision with the Quest, but the front right side of the minivan struck the right side of the Prius, according to the report.

No injuries were reported for Givens.

However, the drivers of the two cars – Latisha M. Pruitt, 40, of Festus, who was driving the Grand Prix, and Lois L. Underwood, 63, of Festus, who was driving the Prius – both were moderately injured and taken by Valle Ambulance to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in south St. Louis County, where they were treated and released, a hospital spokesman said this afternoon.

All those involved in the accident were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.

The Quest and Grand Prix were totaled, and the Prius were extensively damaged, the report said.
