traffic accident 2 patrol patch

Two teenage boys, both of Festus, were seriously hurt Wednesday afternoon (July 5) in a car accident on Plattin Road just south of Hwy. 61 south of Festus, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.

Around 2:30 p.m., Gavin M. Desrocha, 16, was driving a 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse south on Plattin Road when he failed to “negotiate a curve” and crossed the center line before overcorrecting, causing the car to travel off the left side of the road and hit a tree, the report said.

Desrocha was taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City, and a passenger in the car – Allen J. Forester, 14 – was taken by Survival Flight to St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

No information about their conditions was available this afternoon (July 6).

Desrocha was wearing a seat belt, but Forester was not, the patrol reported.

The Eclipse was totaled, the report said.
