Two De Soto teenagers were injured Sunday evening (Sept. 5) in a one-vehicle accident on Hwy. V north of Weathered Stone Drive south of De Soto, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 6:10 p.m., a 17-year-old De Soto boy was driving a 1999 Ford Ranger south on the highway and lost control of the pickup, which ran off the right side of the road and struck two trees, the report said.
He was seriously injured, and a passenger in the pickup – a 15-year-old De Soto boy – had minor injuries. The driver was taken by helicopter to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur, and the passenger was taken by Valle Ambulance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City, according to the report.
The driver was not wearing a seat belt, and the passenger was wearing one, the patrol reported.
The pickup was totaled, the report said.
