traffic accident patrol patch

Two 17-year-old Hillsboro boys and an 18-year-old De Soto man were injured after swerving to avoid a deer on Hwy. P north of Hillsboro-Victoria Road between Hillsboro and De Soto on Wednesday, Oct. 2, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 9:28 p.m., Brayden J. Snyder, 18, was driving a southbound 2018 Chevrolet Equinox when he swerved to the right to avoid a deer. The vehicle slid and traveled off the right side of the road. The vehicle became airborne, struck an embankment and overturned, catching fire, the report said.

Snyder had minor injuries and was taken by private conveyance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, the report said. One passenger in the vehicle was seriously injured and taken by Valle Ambulance to St. Louis Children’s Hospital, and another passenger had minor injuries and was taken by private conveyance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City.

Snyder was treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.

According to the report, none of the injured teens were wearing seat belts, and the Chevrolet was totaled.

Since the two 17-year-old boys are juveniles, the Highway Patrol did not release their names.
