An 8-year-old boy was seriously injured and two other young boys and three adults suffered minor injuries Wednesday night (Nov. 3) in a three-vehicle accident at highways 67 and CC south of Festus, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 9:19 p.m., Jealousy M. Kirt, 26, of Clarkton was driving a northbound 2001 GMC Yukon XL and while turning left, reportedly pulled into the path of a southbound 2016 Ford Focus, and the front of the Focus struck the right side of the Yukon. Then, the front of a southbound 2013 Kia Optima struck the right front of the Focus, the report said.
Timothy M. Nobles, 27, of Farmington was driving the Focus, and James K. Sanders, 19, of Florissant was driving the Optima, according to the report.
No injuries were reported for Kirt or Sanders.
However, Nobles had minor injuries and was taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City, where he was treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.
Dayton L. Fry, 26, and Michael J. Simpson, 29, both of Malden, were passengers in the Yukon and had minor injuries. Fry was taken by Joachim-Plattin to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, and Simpson was taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson, the report said.
Fry was listed in satisfactory condition at Mercy Hospital South today (Nov. 4). However, Mercy Hospital Jefferson had no information about Simpson, a Mercy spokesman said.
Two other passengers in the Yukon – a 1-year-old boy and a 6-year-old boy, both of Clarkton – had minor injuries and were taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis.
The 8-year-old boy who was seriously injured also is from Clarkton, and he, too, was taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital.
No information was available about the children’s conditions.
The Highway Patrol does not release the name of juveniles involved in accidents.
Everyone involved in the accident was wearing seat belts or using safety devices, the patrol reported.
The Yukon and Focus were totaled, and the Optima was moderately damaged, according to the report.
