A 40-year-old Springtown, Texas, man was arrested for multiple alleged offenses following a two-vehicle accident at Vogel and Miller roads in the Arnold area that left an Imperial woman injured, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 10 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, an Imperial 16-year-old was driving a southbound 2014 Chevrolet Spark and had stopped at a red light, and when the light changed to green, the teenager proceeded through the intersection, and the front right side of a westbound 2004 Dodge Ram driven by the Texas man, struck the front right side of the Spark, the report said.

No injuries were reported for the teen or the Texas man. However, a passenger in the Spark – Virginia Puff, 38, of Imperial – was moderately injured and taken by Rock Township Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County where she was treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.

According to the report, the teen driver and Puff were wearing seat belts, and it’s unknown if the Texas man was because he allegedly left the scene of the accident, Cpl. Dallas Thompson.

He also said the pickup the Texas man was driving had been reported stolen.

Both the pickup and the Spark were totaled, the report said.

The patrol arrested the man at 11:25 p.m. and will seek charges against him through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for tampering with a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident. In addition, the man already was wanted in Texas for parole violations, Thompson said.

After his arrest on Monday, he was being held in the Jefferson County Jail on no bond, the patrol reported.

The man’s name will not be published unless charges are filed against him, and as of Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 11, none had been filed.

The patrol did not release the 16-year-old’s name because she is a juvenile.
