A Ste. Genevieve man was killed and a Bloomsdale man was hurt in a head-on accident that happened at 3:07 p.m. Thursday (June 15) on Hwy. 32 east of Gisi Road in Ste. Genevieve County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.
David L. Conwell, 60, of Ste. Genevieve was driving a 2002 Chrysler Sebring east on Hwy. 32 and while attempting to pass another eastbound vehicle, the car struck a westbound SUV head-on, the report said.
Conwell was pronounced dead at the scene.
Richard L. Bollinger, 50, of Bloomsdale, who was driving the SUV, a 1999 GMC Jimmy, was moderately injured and taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City, where he was listed in satisfactory condition, a Mercy spokeswoman said today (June 16).
Conwell was not wearing a seat belt. Bollinger was wearing one, the patrol reported.
Both vehicles were totaled, the report said.
