A St. Louis man was seriously injured April 3 in a two-vehicle accident on I-55 north of Hwy. 141 in Arnold, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 11:32 p.m., Derick M. Asher, 36, of St. Louis allegedly was inattentive while driving a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan north on the interstate, and the front of the van struck the rear of a northbound 2009 Ford F150. After the collision, both vehicles ended up off the right side of the road, the report said.
Charles T. Hengl, 53, of Friedheim was driving the pickup. No injuries were reported for him.
Asher, however, was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, where he was treated and released, a hospital spokesman said today (April 6).
Neither driver was wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.
Both the van and pickup were totaled, the report said.
