A 58-year-old St. Louis man who was riding a bicycle on Hwy. 30 between Fenton and High Ridge early Tuesday morning (Aug. 24) was struck by an SUV and seriously injured. He also was arrested for alleged unlawful possession of a firearm following the crash, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 12:40 a.m., Jessica A. Kossuth, 44, of Dittmer was driving a westbound 2018 Nissan Pathfinder on the highway west of Little Brennan Road and struck the bicyclist, who was riding east in the westbound lanes.
No injuries were reported for Kossuth.
The bicyclist was taken by North Jefferson County Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, where he was listed in good condition Wednesday afternoon (Aug. 25), a hospital spokesman said.
Kossuth was wearing a seat belt, and the St. Louis man was not wearing a helmet, the patrol reported.
The SUV was extensively damaged. No information was provided about any damage to the bike.
The highway patrol arrested the St. Louis man at 2:07 a.m. at the hospital.
The man’s name will not be published unless charges are filed against him, and as of this afternoon, none had been filed.
