An 80-year-old St. Louis man and a 17-year-old from Hazelwood were injured Christmas evening (Dec. 25) in a two-car accident at Hwy. 67 and Buck Creek Road south of Festus, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 6:09 p.m., Austin D. Robertson, 80, of St. Louis was driving an eastbound 2005 Chevrolet Malibu and while traveling from Buck Creek to northbound Hwy. 67, he allegedly failed to yield, and the front of a northbound 2017 Chevrolet Cruze struck the front of the Malibu, the report said.
John D. Ruth, 51, of St. Ann was driving the Cruze.
No injuries were reported for him.
However, Robertson was seriously hurt and taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County.
A passenger in the Cruze – Shaun M. Potts, 17, of Hazelwood – was moderately injured and taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy South.
All those involved in the accident were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.
The two vehicles were totaled, the report said.
