A St. Louis man died and a Cadet man was seriously injured in a two-vehicle accident that occurred Wednesday morning (Dec. 15) on Hwy. 21 north of Britton Road southwest of De Soto near Washington State Park, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
Daniel G. Faucett, 65, of St. Louis was pronounced dead at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City about 90 minutes after the accident.
Dallas E. Estridge, 59, of Cadet was transported by Valle Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, where he was treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.
At 8:05 a.m., Faucett was driving a 2013 Toyota 4Runner south on Hwy. 21 and Estridge was driving a northbound 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup, and while Estridge while traveling around a left curve on the highway, the pickup began sliding and crossed the center line into the path of the SUV. The right side of the pickup struck the front of the SUV, and then the SUV ran off the road and struck a tree, the report said.
The two drivers were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.
Both the SUV and pickup were totaled, the report said.
