A St. Louis man was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated following a four-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon (Nov. 1) on I-55 about a half mile north of Lindbergh Boulevard in south St. Louis County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.
The man was hurt in the accident, which also involved two drivers from Arnold and one from Barnhart.
At 12:23 p.m., Melissa A. Sulier, 59, of Arnold was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Impala south on I-55, followed by Scott R. Vischer, 53, of Arnold in a 2013 Ford F150 and then Jacob A. Kreitler, 23, of Barnhart in a 1999 Honda CRV, and all three had stopped on the interstate for a bicycle in the road, the patrol reported.
A fourth vehicle, a 2003 Chevrolet Suburban driven by the St. Louis man, did not stop and struck the rear of the CRV, pushing it into the rear of the F150, which then was pushed into the rear of the Impala, the report said.
No injuries were reported for Sulier, Vischer and Kreitler.
The St. Louis man, however, sustained moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in south St. Louis County, where he was treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.
The man was not wearing a seat belt, but each of the other drivers was wearing one, the patrol reported.
The Impala and F150 sustained moderate damage, the CRV was extensively damaged and the Suburban was totaled, the report said.
