A South Dakota man was seriously injured Friday afternoon (Aug. 27) in a motorcycle accident on Hwy. TT south of Calverton Lane south of Festus, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 2:13 p.m., Aaron J. Pavel, 21, of Tripp, S.D., was riding a 2000 Yamaha XVS 650 south on the highway and failed to negotiate a curve before the motorcycle crossed the center of the road and then ran off the left side, where it hit a ditch and overturned, ejecting the rider, the report said.
Pavel was taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County.
He was not wearing a helmet, or at least not a Department of Transportation-approved one, the patrol reported.
The bike was totaled, the report said.
