A Ste. Genevieve man and a Festus woman were injured early Saturday morning, Oct. 19, in a traffic accident on I-55 north of Butler Hill Road in south St. Louis County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 12:55 a.m., Robert A. Sell, 47, of Ste. Genevieve was driving a 2022 Ford Ecosport south on the interstate and struck the right side of a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado abandoned in the southbound lanes. After the collision, the Ecosport struck the concrete barriers on both sides of the road, the report said.
No driver was inside the Silverado when it was struck, according to the report.
Sell was seriously injured, and a passenger in the Ecosport – Heather M. Jackson, 44, of Festus – was moderately injured, and both were taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis County, according to the report.
Neither Sell nor Jackson was wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.
Both the Ecosport and Silverado were totaled, the report said.
