A man, woman and child, all of Hillsboro, were injured Sept. 3 in a one-vehicle accident on Sandy Church Road east of Huber Road near Mapaville, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 3:30 p.m., Robert R. Reese, 32, of Hillsboro was driving a northbound 2008 Dodge Nitro and steered to the right to avoid an animal in the road, and the SUV ran off the right side of the road, where the front of the vehicle struck two mailboxes, a ditch and a tree, the report said.

Reese and two passengers – Jessica R. Bockhoff, 35, of Hillsboro and a 5-year-old Hillsboro boy – were moderately injured and taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to area hospitals. Reese and Bockhoff were taken to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, and the boy was taken to Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, according to the report.
