Barry W. Light, 32, of Pevely was among eight people killed in Missouri over the Memorial Day weekend in either a traffic accident, boating accident or drowning. The deaths occurred between May 29 and May 31, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
The patrol investigated four of the six traffic accident fatalities, one boating fatality and one drowning.
St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department investigated the traffic accident that left Light dead, and the Springfield Police investigated the other one, the patrol reported in a written statement.
Light died May 29, when the motorcycle he was riding struck a concrete traffic barrier on I-64 near the S. 11th Street exit, St. Louis Police reported.
The patrol reported two other deaths on May 29, including a 55-year-old Wentzville woman who died in a three-vehicle accident on Hwy. 364 east of Bryan Road in St. Charles County, and a 6-year-old boy who drowned in Big Creek in Iron County.
On May 30, a 29-year-old Rockville man died in a motorcycle accident in Rockville, and a 20-year-old Republic man died in a motorcycle accident in Green County, according to the patrol
Also on May 30, a 77-year-old Crocker man died after falling off a boat into Rinquelin Trail Lake in Maries County, the patrol reported.
On Memorial Day, May 31, an 80-year-old Eldridge man died in an accident on Hwy. D north of Jack North Road in Eldridge, and a 21-year-old East Prairie man died on Miller Road north of East Prairie in Mississippi County, the patrol reported.
