A Bismarck man was seriously injured when he was struck by a car while standing outside his crashed vehicle on I-55 south of McNutt Street in Herculaneum, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 12:51 a.m. Dec. 14, Terrence L. Ruck, 73, was standing next to his 2015 Honda CR-V, which was facing the wrong direction in the southbound lane following a previous accident, and John T. Bishop, 48, of Perryville, driving south in a 1979 Ford F150 Ranger, struck the front of the CR-V, and its door struck Ruck. Both vehicles traveled off the left side of the road and struck the cable barrier, the report said.
Ruck was seriously injured and taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County where he was listed in serious condition the afternoon of Dec. 14, a hospital spokesman said.
According to the report, Bishop was wearing a seat belt, and both vehicles were totaled.
