Bennie P. Lucy, 41, of Park Hills was hurt Monday night (Oct. 9) in a two-vehicle accident on I-55 north of Hwy. Z between Pevely and Barnhart, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.
At 11:25 p.m., Lucy was driving a 2013 Ford Focus north on I-55, and the car began to hydroplane on the wet pavement before it ran off the right side of the road, where the front of it struck the rear of a box truck parked on the shoulder, the report said.
Michael S. Diggs, 30, of Jefferson City had been driving the 2011 Kenworth box truck. No injuries were reported for him.
Lucy was moderately injured and taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City, where he was treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.
The Focus was totaled, and the truck sustained minor damage, the report said.
