A St. Louis man was seriously injured early Thursday morning, July 4, in a one-vehicle accident on Hwy. 21 south of Tree Ridge Trail south of Hillsboro, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 2:44 a.m., Jeffrey A. York, 65, of St. Louis was driving a 2003 Ford Escape north on the highway and ran off the right side of the road, where the SUV struck a metal culvert before becoming airborne and overturning. York was ejected, and the vehicle struck a tree, the report said.
York was taken by Valle Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, where he was listed in serious condition on Friday afternoon, July 5, a hospital spokesman said.
He was not wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.
The SUV was totaled, the report said.
