A body was pulled from the Mississippi River in Arnold at about 10 a.m. July 23, and officials later announced that it was Dalton S. Bast, 29, of Humboldt, Iowa, who drowned after being ejected from a kayak on July 21, according to authorities.
Arnold Police helped the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s water patrol division recover the body from the river near Dickerman Drive, which is off Wick's Road.
At about 4 a.m. July 21, the man was at mile marker 175 on the Mississippi River, where the kayak he was in struck a barge mooring line, and he was ejected and went under the barge, the highway patrol reported.
Bast was not wearing a life jacket, the patrol reported.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Marine Task Force and the U.S. Coast Guard helped the Missouri water patrol with the search.
