Michael J. Woods, 23, of Imperial was seriously injured late Wednesday afternoon (Dec. 9) in a two-vehicle accident on Hwy. 61-67 north of Wontour Drive between Pevely and Herculaneum, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 4:05 p.m., Woods was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox south in the northbound lanes of the highway, and Daniel A. Kanmerer, 39, of Pevely, driving a northbound 2017 Dodge Ram 3500, saw the SUV approaching and swerved to the right, but the right front side of the Equinox struck the left side of the pickup, as well as the unit it was towing, the report said.
No injuries were reported for Kanmerer. However, Woods was taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur, where he was listed in critical condition Thursday evening (Dec. 10), a hospital spokeswoman said.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.
The two vehicles were totaled, the report said.
