Northbound I-55 near Hwy. Z in Pevely is closed following a traffic accident this afternoon (Nov. 21), said Cpl. Juston Wheetley of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
He said the accident happened about 1:35 p.m., and he believes it involved two vehicles,
According to preliminary information, it looks like a southbound vehicle crossed over the median and struck a northbound vehicle head-on, Wheetley said.
He said both drivers were seriously hurt and taken by helicopter to area hospitals.
The northbound vehicle had another occupant who was taken by ambulance to an area hospital, Wheetley said.
At about 2:35 p.m., Wheetley said tow trucks were on the scene and he thought the wreck could be cleared in a half hour or so.
