A House Springs man and a Festus woman were injured late Thursday afternoon (Oct. 22) in a two-vehicle accident on Old Hwy. 21 north of Blue Springs Drive in Imperial, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 4:14 p.m., Lawrence B. Taube, 74, of House Springs was driving a 2006 Toyota Tacoma north on the highway, and while he tried to turn left into a private parking lot, Tracie L. Carrier, 42, of Festus, driving a 2016 Buick Enclave, tried to stop, began skidding and steered right to try to avoid the Tacoma, and both vehicles ran off the west side of the road, the report said.
In the process, the front left side of the Enclave struck the front right side of the Tacoma, which then began sliding and returned to the highway, where it came to rest facing southeast and blocking the southbound lane. The Enclave ran off the road and struck a tree, according to the report.
Both drivers were moderately injured and taken by Rock Township Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, the report said.
Carrier was treated and released; however, the hospital had no information about Taube, a Mercy spokesman said.
The two were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.
Both vehicles were extensively damaged, the report said.
