fatal motorcycle crash patrol patch

Robert Leesmann, 42, of House Springs died after crashing a motorcycle on westbound Hwy. 30 east of Main Drive in the Murphy area of unincorporated Fenton, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 3:32 p.m. Aug. 3, Leesmann was riding a 2014 Victory Cross Country when the motorcycle malfunctioned, causing it to shake uncontrollably before Leesmann traveled off the left side of the road, struck a large patch of gravel and was ejected, the report said.

North Jefferson County Ambulance District personnel transported Leesmann to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, where he was pronounced dead at 5:59 p.m. the same day, according to the report.

The Highway Patrol no longer publishes names of those involved in accidents. The Medical Examiner’s Office identified Leesmann as the man who died in the accident.

According to the report, Leesmann was wearing a Missouri Department of Transportation-approved helmet, and the motorcycle was extensively damaged.
