A Hillsboro woman was seriously hurt in a single-vehicle traffic accident Sunday evening (May 16) on Hwy. 8 west of Potosi in Washington County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Rachael Nelson, 40, was driving a 2009 Pontiac G6 east in the 11700 block of Hwy. 8 at 8:30 p.m. when she failed to negotiate a turn and rove off the right side of the road, where she hit a telephone pole and then a tree.
Nelson sustained serious injuries and was taken by Washington County EMS to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, the report said.
She was listed in satisfactory condition as of late Monday morning, a hospital spokesman said.
Nelson was not wearing a seat belt, the report said. The Pontiac was totaled, according to the report.
