A Hillsboro woman and a De Soto man were injured Wednesday night (May 5) in a one-vehicle accident on Stonehouse Road south of Hwy. Y northwest of De Soto, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 9:50 p.m., Heather M. Norton, 34, of Hillsboro was driving a 2003 Chevrolet S10 north on Stonehouse Road and failed to negotiate a curve to the left, causing the pickup to run off the right side of the road, where it struck a tree and then spun and struck another tree, the report said.

Norton was seriously injured, and a passenger in the pickup – Andrew J. Katz, 37, of De Soto – had minor injuries. Both were transported by Valle Ambulance to area hospitals.

Norton went to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur, where she was listed in satisfactory condition today (May 6), a hospital spokeswoman said.

Katz was taken to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, where he was treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.

Neither Norton nor Katz was wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.

The pickup was totaled, the report said.
