A Hillsboro woman and a Chesterfield man were hurt this morning (May 17) in a two-vehicle accident on I-55 north of Imperial Main Street, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.

At 10:35 a.m., Dennis M. Murphy, 52, of Chesterfield, in a northbound 2016 Chevrolet 2500 pickup, had stopped on the right shoulder of I-55, and Susan R. Maddock, 45, of Hillsboro, driving a 2004 Ford F250, was headed north in Lane 4 of the interstate, but the Ford pickup ran off the right side of the road, and the front of it struck the rear of the Chevy pickup, the report said.

After the collision, the Ford pickup crossed all the northbound lanes and struck the center median barrier, according to the report.

Maddock was moderately injured, and Murphy sustained minor injuries, and both were taken by Rock Township Ambulance to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in south St. Louis County, where they were treated and released, a hospital spokesman said this afternoon.

Maddock was not wearing a seat belt, and Murphy was wearing one, the patrol reported.

The Ford pickup was totaled, and the Chevy pickup was extensively damaged, the report said.
