A Hillsboro man and woman were injured Sunday evening (Dec. 16) in a two-vehicle accident on Hwy. 110 at Fountain City Road just east of De Soto, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 5:50 p.m., John F. Easter, 58, of Hillsboro was driving a 2017 Ford Explorer west on Hwy. 110 when Edward G. Earls, 65, of De Soto, driving a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, started making a left turn onto the highway from southbound Fountain City Road, and the front left side of the Silverado struck the front right side of the Explorer. After the collision, the Explorer crossed the center of the highway and ran off the south side of the road and hit an embankment, the report said.

No injuries were reported for Earls.

However, Easter and a passenger in the SUV – Julie A. Easter, 60, of Hillsboro – were moderately injured. They were transported by Valle Ambulance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City, where they were treated and released, a hospital spokesman said Monday (Dec. 17).

All those involved in the accident were wearing seat belts, according to the report.

The Explorer was totaled, and the pickup had extensive damage, the report said.
