A Hillsboro man and an Arnold woman, along with two St. Peters men, were hurt Wednesday evening (Jan. 9) in a six-vehicle accident on I-270 south of Hwy. 100 in St. Louis County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 5:20 p.m., Timothy J. Bishop, 54, of Hillsboro was driving a 2016 Ford F350 north on I-270, and he allegedly “failed to keep a proper lookout,” and the truck struck the rear of a 2017 Ford Mustang and a 2018 Fiat Spider, both stopped for traffic in the northbound lanes, the report said.
The force of that collision caused the Spider to strike the rear of a northbound 2015 Jeep Cherokee, which, in turn, was pushed into the rear of a northbound 2019 Chevrolet Equinox, which, then was pushed into rear of a northbound 2014 Cadillac XTS, according to the report.
Karen M. Olejniczak, 48, of Arnold was driving the Mustang, Ryan E. Gaddy, 42, of St. Peters was driving the Spider, Justin A. Milewczik, 28, of St. Peters was driving the Cherokee, David G. Jones, 64, of Sparks, Nev., was driving the Equinox, and Kathryn E. Styer, 37, of Fenton was driving the Cadillac, the report said.
Bishop was moderately hurt, and Olejniczak, Gaddy and Milewczik had minor injuries. All four reportedly were taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur.
Everyone involved in the accident, except for Bishop, was wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.
The Spider and Cherokee were totaled, the F350 and Mustang were extensively damaged, and the Equinox and Cadillac were moderately damaged, the report said.
