A 30-year-old Barnhart man was seriously injured Monday evening, June 26, in an ATV accident on Marble Springs Road near Akers Drive west of Pevely, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 6:57 p.m., Andrew T. Hamilton, who allegedly was riding a westbound 2005 Honda ATV too fast for the conditions, failed to negotiate a curve to the left and ran off the right side of the road, where the vehicle struck an embankment and overturned, ejecting him, the report said.
Hamilton was taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County and then transferred to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur, where he was listed in satisfactory condition Wednesday afternoon, June 28, a hospital spokeswoman said.
According to the report, Hamilton was not wearing a helmet, or at least not a Department of Transportation-approved one.
The ATV has minor damage, the report said.
